Section C: Plays and Adaptations

This database includes published and unpublished plays and sketches.

Nine of these items are listed in Section J: The Stage, which for purposes of the Collection, is included in the database as a reference resource to list stage productions in which Wodehouse was involved. The majority of Section J titles were not published. The Section J database will not indicate if copies of those titles have been donated to the Collection.

If titles have been published, are known to exist as typescripts, or have been donated to the Collection, following the example used in the McIlvaine Addendum, they will be listed in the Section C database. For more complete information on this, please see the explanatory text contained in Section J.

Of special note, it is fairly certain that the titles Anything Goes and The Three Musketeers listed in the Section C database are the only published libretti of Wodehouse musicals.

An omnibus volume titled Four Plays, containing four of the plays in this database, was published in 1983 by Methuen. The listing for this can be found in Section B database as #27a.

Many new stage productions of Wodehouse works have been launched in the last few decades. Please feel free to advise us of new titles. We will be interested in any items, published or in typescript form, of these productions.
