The name of this society shall be The Wodehouse Society (hereinafter referred to as TWS).
TWS is an association of agreeable human beings who, regardless of age, sex, race, creed, or other idiosyncrasies, share an admiration of Sir Pelham Grenville Wodehouse (hereinafter referred to as Plum) and the rich products of his imagination. TWS strives to keep the literary legacy bequeathed by Plum fresh in the public mind. It encourages young readers to read, confirmed readers to continue reading, publishers to publish, booksellers to supply, and libraries to lend the books of this master of gentle satire and sparkling humor.
Memberships shall be of two kinds: regular and honorary. Anyone who shall have paid current dues of TWS shall be a regular member. Annual dues shall be US$25 per year. Dues may be changed at a biennial meeting or by the Board of Directors between biennial meetings, as required.
The officers of TWS shall be: President; Vice President; Treasurer; and Corresponding Secretary. The officers shall be elected at biennial meetings.
The Board of Directors shall consist of the officers: President;Vice President; Treasurer; Corresponding Secretary; and most immediate past President. They shall transact business as required between biennial meetings.
A biennial meeting shall be held to celebrate Plum's life and writings, to elect officers and directors, and to transact business as required. The Wodehouse Society Convention Steering Committee (TWSCSC) is responsible for arranging the biennial meeting in accordance with their charter.
The Board of Directors shall appoint the Editor(s) of Plum Lines, the quarterly journal of TWS. The Editor(s) shall have general responsibility for publishing and distributing Plum Lines to all TWS members.
TWS encourages the establishment of chapters and branches everywhere.
In the unlikely event of a dissolution of TWS, assets remaining after payment of indebtedness shall, in compliance with the wishes of the Society's late founder, Bill Blood, be transferred to the Library Fund, Delaware Valley Colege of Science and Agriculture, Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
This constitution shall serve as a guide to TWS until such time as it is amended or superseded by the membership.
